DOLL MINISTRY
With Christmas just around the corner, we're making plans for the 2025 doll blessing and distribution of the multicultural dolls complete with clothing, blankets, bottles, and cradles.
Atlantic Street Center has been a long-term recipient of our dolls. A few years ago we added Mary's Place, and our dolls went to families at the Northshore Shelter and their Popsicle Place program serving families with medically fragile children. Last year we had a few extra dolls, and we offered them to the Lake Washington Safe Parking Program for families experiencing homelessness. They were so appreciative! This year we plan to once again support these three nonprofits that serve families in our area.
Extra dolls, as well as sewing, knitting, and crochet patterns, are always available in the back corner of the church library. There are also a few small bins with fabric and yarn. Feel free to take any patterns and materials at any time!
The cradle team has been busy making cradles for the dolls. If you are interested in painting or staining a few, or if you know anyone else who would like to, please let us know!
Blankets are needed to wrap the 10” dolls. There is no standard pattern and can be in any form: quilted, sewn, flannel with tied edges, crochet, knit, etc. Blankets that are 12” x 12” up to 20” x 20” work well. The larger sizes are nice for the dolls that are packaged without cradles for the LW Safe Parking Program.
