First Time Guest

Welcome to Bothell United Methodist Church! We’re happy you found us and we look forward to meeting you. We know that visiting a new church can sometimes feel uncomfortable. So that your time with us can be as relaxed as possible, here are a few things you can expect when you come to worship with us for the first time.

Where
You can find driving directions to our church here. There is visitor parking in front of the rose garden on the west side of the building, a large lot for general parking, and if that is full there’s additional parking at Bothell High School across the street. Accessible parking spaces are located in the front of the general parking lot and on the circle drive located on 186th Street. The building entrance off of the circle drive is equipped with an automatic door.

Community
All are welcome at Bothell UMC and we consider our openness one of our greatest strengths. You’ll be greeted with a warm smile as you enter the door and an usher will be happy to help you find a seat. Please locate one of the ushers if you need any accommodations such as a large print hymnal and bulletin, lighted magnifying glass, or information on the assistive hearing system.

Children
Children are loved and valued at Bothell UMC. On Sunday mornings during the 9 and 10:30 am services, children start by attending morning worship with their parents and are dismissed to attend Children’s Church. Parents are requested to pick their kids up in person following the service. For children with special needs, we offer a “buddy” to accompany your child to Children’s Church. If your child would benefit from having a “buddy” please let one of the ushers know or stop in at the Children’s Ministry Sign-In table.

Childcare

Childcare is available at the 9 and 10:30 am services in our nursery for children age six months to three years. The nursery staff members are experienced and friendly. The nursery also offers pagers to parents in case they are needed during the service. Children of all ages are welcome to attend the worship service, but if your children become restless and you would like to give them room to play, there is a family room available with a view and audio/visual feed of the service. The family room has a bathroom as well as toys for young children.

Worship
Bothell UMC has three distinct worship services on Sunday mornings; each one is a friendly gathering with music, prayer and an inspiring sermon. The congregation is invited to sing both traditional and contemporary hymns and read unison prayers that are printed for you in the weekly worship bulletin. You also may hear special music from our bell choir, flute or brass ensemble, Sojourners men's gospel group, Bluegrass ensemble, children’s or youth choirs. On the first Sunday of every month, we share in Holy Communion and ALL (Methodist, non-Methodist, church members and visitors) are welcome to come forward and share in this special meal reminding us of God’s love for us.

Participation
You will not be asked to stand and introduce yourself, or made to feel "on the spot" at any time. We would like to keep in touch with you so we ask that you sign in on the Making Connections sheet.

Clothing
You are welcome to dress as you are comfortable on a Sunday morning- for some that’s casual and for others it’s dressy.

Length
Worship usually lasts about 45 minutes for the 8 am River service, and one hour at the 9 am Roots and the 10:30 am Wings services. You are welcome to enjoy coffee and fellowship between the 9 and 10:30 services.
