Youth Ministry

The Bothell UMC Youth Ministry is a place for students in 7th to 12th grade to engage in discussions about the Christian faith, to learn through Christian practices what it means to be the church, to build lifelong friendships, and to have a lot of fun along the way! Youth Sunday School

Youth in 7th-12th grades gather together every Sunday morning to eat breakfast, hang out together, and engage in discussions about the Christian faith. This year we are connecting our discussions to what is going on in the worship services, whether that be with the sermon series or the liturgical season. Youth Sunday School is offered at both 9:00-10:00 am and 10:30-11:30 am in the Youth Room.

Sunday Evening Youth Group

All youth in 7-12th grades are invited to join us on Sunday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm in the Youth Room for our weekly Youth Group gathering. During this time, we fellowship together, build community, and engage in discussions about the Christian faith and Christian living. We break into small groups for deeper discussion, and we always conclude our evenings with prayer together. This year, we will be adding in a time of worship in the Chapel about once a month. Parents are welcome to join us as we worship!

Confirmation

This is a focused time of discussion and teaching on the core tenants of the Christian faith and the United Methodist Church with a review of Christian creeds, practices of the faith, and engagement in the local church. Confirmation is for youth in 9th grade, but if a student in another grade wishes to join, that is great too. Please let Emily know if your youth is interested in being in the 2015 Confirmation Class. We will meet weekly from January - April 2015.

Music

Youth who play a musical instrument can join the Youth Instrumentalists groups, which perform in worship a few times each year. Any youth who are interested in singing should look into being a part of the Youth Choir.

Summer Camps

There are four marvelous camps to choose from located in some of the most breathtaking spots in Idaho and Washington, all of them on or near water. They are: Indianola, Lazy F, Ocean Park and Twinlow. These camps have programs during the summer for children from early grade school age through high school. There are also camps for families and seniors.

And for our senior high students (in grades 9-12) there is the Leader In Training (LIT) program where the teens attend a special camp for five days to learn about becoming camp counselors, a traditional week of camp, and a service opportunity.

Bothell UMC supports our children and youth in going to camp by providing camperships (a partial scholarship, but for camp, not school!). Camp catalogs arrive in mid February. Call the church office if you would like more details.

Safe Sanctuaries

Bothell United Methodist Church believes it is our duty to guard and protect the children, youth, and vulnerable adults given to our care. To ensure our congregation is a place of safety, trust, and compassion, we practice Safe Sanctuaries which includes background checks of staff and adult volunteers, preventative education, and proper response to disclosures of abuse. Through our policy, we hope people become more aware of what it takes to keep our community and children safe. Learn More
