Music

Bothell UMC continues to have and nurture a rich musical tradition. More than 100 children, youth, and adults help lead worship through music ministry! The primary purpose of the music department is to enhance and enrich each worship service through the singing of songs and hymns, and the addition of vocal and instrumental groups/ensembles to provide music as a conduit of the message/theme, and to provide music that can act as a medium to help set a mood for any particular time. Congregational/corporate singing throughout the course of a service has its place and serves its function of connecting and supporting the theme of the day so the message can be reinforced with each worshiper, but equally important are the opportunities for the worshiper to listen and/or meditate on music (with or without text) to better absorb the message.

A secondary purpose (though still of great value and worth) is to allow those who are currently involved and those who might still yet participate, a safe place to learn and develop their musical gifts. It is imperative to encourage those with the skill and desire to develop their gifts in healthy ways that can be used for supporting worship and the mission of the church.
